Nostalgia
Winnie was travelling in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She came across the mosaic tiles outside a store and they are reminiscent of the 1960’s floor tiles design in her home city Hong Kong. The blue squares represent the 200 plus islands which make up the geography of Hong Kong. This painting evokes feelings of nostalgia.

In the old days, mosaic tiles were commonly used to decorate home floors in Hong Kong. This type of material was durable and readily available. This floor style was iconic in 1960’s.
